babyCAUTION:  Go get sustenance before reading this article.  It's a VERY long RANT!

Some time ago, a well meaning "professional" suggested my home would be "more stable" if I got a  job to supplement our income.  Along with running a household, my family, our finances, THREE WEB SITES, helping my elderly Mom who lives next door, errands, and, well, YOU KNOW, the REST of the story, we had been raising our great-niece tor two years while her mother was in and out of rehab, tripping out on drugs or in and out of jail.  OMG!  Do I have a few things to respond to that one, just as soon as I can peel my laughing self off the floor!

Comforted by the fact others are going along with you, it isn't quite so frightening.  When the ride begins, you hold on to the bar and adrenalin courses through your veins.  There are moments you are terrified and moments of complete exhilaration. There may be moments you close your eyes in terror, knowing you can't get off and all you can do is hold on until it's over.  You know you are safe but it doesn't take away the fear.  For many, there are moments of regret for taking the ride.

When the ride is over, you step off.  Most are smiling even though there were terrifying moments. Some people are dizzy, some even get sick, but few regret the ride itself.  Most will ride again.  Such is the spirit of life!"  Carol Wiepert

Some days I have a hard time feeling inspirational.  Many obstacles are thrown my way which deplete my spirit and my drive to share much of anything.  Were it not for the love and support of my family and friends, there would be days it would be hard to perceive the words " happy" and "future" belong in the same sentence.

This column is devoted to the women (and men) in our lives who hold us up when we feel like we're in the middle of a train wreck.
