"Life is like a roller coaster. You begin the ride hesitant and a bit fearful. Comforted by the fact others are going along with you, it isn't quite so frightening. When the ride begins, you hold on to the bar and adrenalin courses through your veins. There are moments you are terrified and moments of complete exhilaration. There may be moments you close your eyes in terror, knowing you can't get off and all you can do is hold on until it's over. You know you are safe but it doesn't take away the fear. For many, there are moments of regret for taking the ride.
When the ride is over, you step off. Most are smiling even though there were terrifying moments. Some people are dizzy, some even get sick, but few regret the ride itself. Most will ride again. Such is the spirit of life!" Carol Wiepert
Some days I have a hard time feeling inspirational. Many obstacles are thrown my way which deplete my spirit and my drive to share much of anything. Were it not for the love and support of my family and friends, there would be days it would be hard to perceive the words " happy" and "future" belong in the same sentence.
This column is devoted to the women (and men) in our lives who hold us up when we feel like we're in the middle of a train wreck.
When we are in the middle of an ongoing dilemma, it is often hard to focus on our strengths yet life must go on day to day. Recently, I was feeling particularly overwhelmed and needed a bit of consoling. I needed to regroup and refocus to overcome my burdens, but I didn't know how. My friend Amy found the perfect poem and I shall forever be indebted to her. It hit the mark and gave me the strength I needed to stand tall when I felt very, very small. I also knew it is something that must be shared.

Women have strengths that amaze men.
They bear hardships and they carry burdens, but they hold happiness, love and joy.
They smile when they want to scream.
They sing when they want to cry.
They cry when they are happy
and laugh when they are nervous.
They fight for what they believe in.
They stand up to injustice.
They don't take "no" for an answer
when they believe there is a better solution.
They go without so their family can have.
They go to the doctor with a frightened friend.
They love unconditionally.
They cry when their children excel
and cheer when their friends get awards.
They are happy when they hear about a birth or a wedding.
Their hearts break when a friend dies.
They grieve at the loss of a family member, yet they are strong when they think there is no strength left.
They know that a hug and a kiss can heal a broken heart.
Women come in all shapes, sizes and colours.
They'll drive, fly, walk, run or e-mail you to show how much they care about you.
The heart of a woman is what makes the world keep turning.
They bring joy, hope and love.
They have compassion and ideas.
They give moral support to their
family and friends.
Women have vital things to say and everything to give.
HOWEVER, IF THERE IS ONE FLAW IN WOMEN,
IT IS THAT THEY FORGET THEIR WORTH.
